![]() I like the TF twisted wedge heads, does anyone have any cam reccomendations that would complement the heads with bigger 2.02" valves? I heard guys lose bottom end torque with the 2.02" valves but gain more in the upper RPM's.
Also, the info I got says that the maximum cam lift for this head on a stock flat top piston motor is .540", 224 degree duration, 112 degree lobe seperation, but does this account for rocker arms? If i used a cam like the E303 and used 1.6 rockers, would it cause piston valve clearance problems? And the specs on the E303 say 282 duration, but Trick Flow says maximum cam spec 224 duration with their head, what does the duration have to do with the heads? Isn't the only real concern about valve piston clearance? Would there be a problem using the E303 with these heads? What would you reccomend?

![]() I checked out Trick Flow site, I see their Track heat roller cams, they have one with the specifications they recommend for use with the twisted wedge heads on a stock 5.0, it says 221/225 duration, .312/.319" lift and .499/.510" lift with 1.6 rockers, 112 degree lobe seperation. Seems kind of conservative, what do you guys think?

![]() E-cam is 220-degrees duration at .050" lift which is the duration that TFS is referring to. The 282 duration you quote is the advertised duration at .006" lobe lift. Also, the .540" lift limit is the total valve lift (at the retainer). It doesn't matter whether you use 1.3:1 rockers or 1.7:1 rockers so long as the gross lift is less than .540". The TFS stage I cam is still better than the E or B alphabet cams.

![]() The best thing to do is get in touch with Trick Flow and ask them what they recommend. They know their heads and what they work best with. I went with their recommendations and get 345hp/375ft-lbs to the rear wheels. I had a head gasket leak when I went to the dyno.
That was with a 351W.

![]() Thanks for the input guys, I'm definately going to ask the sales rep. and thanks for the info Jimberg, why did you have the leak? What kind of gaskets you think I should run if I'm keeping normaly aspirated and no NO2 on a 5.0 with 9:1? Do you agree with the suggested torque specs or would you give them a little less or more?
Oh, and what does it mean when they say the head is "O-ringed", and "non O-ringed"? they aren't talking about the head alignment dowels are something are they?

![]() When the head is O-ringed, it has a groove cut into it for each cylinder that goes with an O-ringed gasket. The O-ring is supposed to be stronger than a regular gasket.
I had a leaky heater core which was allowing my coolant to get low, so the head probably got a little warped. It's also something that tends to happen when you have two disimilar metals mated together that have different rates of expansion. You should torque the heads exactly as they say.
