Mike and I hung the 8.8" rear allegedly from an '89 GT yesterday and there are what appears to be dampers on this rear that weren't on the original rear. They look like shocks, but are mounted just inside the drum backing plates on top of the axle. They look like they are for dampening axle housing rotation when accelerating from a stop.
The original rear doesn't have these and the body doesn't seem to actually have a place for attaching them. How do we go about attaching these? Has anyone else done this? Does the '89 GT have a place to attach these that 4-cylinder cars didn't? Anyone have any pics of a rear installed like this?
I am new to Mustangs so, go easy on me... :)
Thanks all,

Quad shock setup

You need the mounting brackets. This might help.

I didnt put thw quads on my 84, and get pretty bad wheel hop. If you go with an aftermarket control arm, you dont need them.

Leave them off, and make the car hook the way it's SUPPOSED to!
Quad shocks work for "stock" applications. If you're making more ponies than Ford did, leave them off and do it the right way. ;)

Well, Mike went ahead and bought these:

Sooo, he really doesn't NEED the quadshocks anymore.
We may still just hook them up anyway...

If you have the control arms, there is no point to hooking up the quad shocks. Leaving them off will give you more clearance for bigger tires too :D

Heh, true on the bigger tire thing. He is gonna have the steelies widened and put wider tires on there. With the quads left off, this would give maximum room (sleeper from hell).
Good suggestion. Thanks!
