Exclamation Tire HELP!

Had a blow out today and need new rear tires - What is the largest size that I can put on my '79 without cuting up the wheel lip??? Thanks!

How wide are your rear wheels?

my friend managed to massage 275/60-15's under his 85', and they looked good. I think he bent the inner fender lip some, but nothing noticeable from the outside. and he had weld 15x8s.

Will a 275 50 or 60 series fit on a 15X7 rim??? Most of the tire companies say you need a 7.5-9.0 for that size tire - (never seen a 7.5 before ) Thanks!
