At risk of showing my lack of mechanical knowledge I have a question. I purchased a Pertronix electronic ignition for my '67 Mustang. The car has a 289. The instructions are probably adequate but I have run into a problem. There are two wires - positive and negative - from the igniter module that connect to the positive and negative poles on the coil. Obviously the current wire that runs from the distributor to the negative pole on the coil will be removed and replaced by the wire from the igniter module. However, there is what I believe is an ignition wire connected to the positive pole on the coil. This wire also connects to the solinoid. My question is, does this ignition wire stay and if so, does the positive wire from the igniter module connect on top of it? Help!

I had to look at my car to see what you were talking about. I have a pentronix too!
I removed only the old wire to the distributer points. the pentronix wires go to the coil, red to pos black to neg, the other wires control your ignition and are needed.should be separate>?!
Did this help?? or am I more confused than you??

Yes, thanks. I hooked it up and it works great. I was a bit unsure about having two wires connected to the positive pole on the coil but I guess that is how it is supposed to be.
