![]() My manifold is turning a glowing red color after I drive about ten or so miles. I thought I was running it too rich so I fixed that but it still does. What can I do to fix it?

![]() Running rich won't make a motor run hot, just smelly, inefficient etc. Running lean is what fries stuff (in extreme situations). What do your spark plugs look like?
I would adjust your carb according to the plugs, not the manifold. Any chance your exhaust is plugged up? ------------------ http://www.comports.com/2bav8 |

![]() I have a straight six with a one barrel carberator. My car has been smelling pretty bad but I just thought it was an old car. I am going to rebuild the carberator after the first of the year. One of my lifters is making noise and oil is coming out around one of the spark plugs. People have told me it is my rings but they said that if you don't know for sure what you are doing you shouldn't tackle it so I am waiting till I start rebuilding another engine.

![]() On that engine it has to be easy to do a compression test. You might consider buying or borrowing a compression gauge. This will tell you if the rings are gone or not.
