Post Carb Problems

A while back my '67 289 2V began giving me fits. It would start OK and then immediately die. Also, after warmed up, it would die every time I stopped with the car in Drive. Beginning about the same time it would sputter and hesitate whenever I tried to kick it into passing gear. I have changed the fuel pump, filter added fuel system cleaner and tinkered with the adjustments and it now starts OK and runs better but still sputters when I try to accelerate into passing gear. A friend suggested that it may be the accelerating pump. Any ideas? Thanx
