Post Question for Rev (or anyone)

Rev,
I saw your reply to 6t5 about interior work and didn't want to take over his thread so here's a new post. You said you replaced your window felts. Do you have any tips on installing them (front and rear)? How do they attach? I need to badly replace mine as my windows rattle quite a bit and the original felts are quite worn.
Also, did you have a lot of trouble painting the metal part of the dash? How did you mask off the car so paint didn't get everywhere My doors need it too, but that's a no brainer.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Stefan

Stefan, its been 3 yrs. since I did the window felts. I believe that the hard part
is removing the window glass and putting it back in again. The felts come with good instructions and aren't difficult to put in with the glass removed. Adjusting the windows is kind of a pain. I'd get a shop manual for this kind of work. You're going to need one anyway to work on your car. I didn't paint my dash, only the inner doors and rear panels. As you said, they're pretty much a no-brainer. Good luck on this.

Rev,
Thanks for the scoop. I guess I do need to rustle up a shop manual. Now I just need to wait for warm weather.

Cool

Before you pull the glass out, check and see if you can lower it in the door more by removing the lower stop. I'm sure I have done this in the past.

Good Luck

Talking

Thanks for the info. My doors need a lot of work, but I think new felts will help a lot.

Stefan, Gearhead99 is absolutly right, I removed my glass so as to remove my outside door handles and the key locks in order to do a complete body work and paint job with all trim removed. This is why my glass was removed when I put in new felts. Sorry for any confusion on this. There are good insstuctions with the felts. If you're just replacing felts, you can remove the stops and lower the windows more to replace the felts. Good luck.
