Cool cam selection for '66 289ci

I want to know from the experts who frequent this site what is their opinion? I have a C-code '66 289. I'm looking to add a Performer RPM intake & 600 cfm vac. sec. carb. I need to know the best camshaft for my combo. I have stock heads with pressed-in studs. If I "pin" the styuds in the heads, will i be able to accomodate a more radical camshaft profile without having the spring pockets machined? I would appreciate any help I could get. Thanks!
