![]() I'm having trouble replacing my oil pan gasket on my 289. The metal on the block at the front and rear (the crankshaft housing) is a smooth channel. The corresponding metal on the pan has a raised groove. However the rubber gaskets (I bought a four piece Felpro and looked at plenty of others) are exactly the opposite. They have the groove indentation on the crank side and a smooth surface on the pan side. It seems that any way you manipulate the gasket the seal will be crappy. Any suggestions?
