![]() Is this a good idea? Or should I wait until I have other (alu) heads and another cam?

![]() They will be fine with the stock set-up, it will make the ,444 lift stock cam act like a .474 lift cam. On a nice set od alum. heads I would get stud mount and a set of 1.6's. the 1.7's put a lot of extra strain on the valve train which can hurt you when you have a nice big cam.

![]() Personally, I would hold off on doing the rockers until you can afford to do the rest of the mods. My reasoning is that it would suck if you bought the 1.7's and then couldn't use them with whatever your next upgrades will be.....(cam, heads, etc.)

![]() Also, I dont think they will fit under stock valve covers, and I read it could be bad on high milage engines cuz.... I forget, it just is. I'll go look at the book and quote them and post it later.

![]() As far as the valve covers go, you have to gring out the supports in the intake side as well as take out the oil baffle and grind out its remains too. I'm happy my application called for 1.6's....much easier, just take out the baffle..two little screws

![]() You can get the Crane 1.7 RR's. They will fit under the stock valve covers if you just remove the baffles. Then when you upgrade, if you get the Crane 2031, which I am ordering, it is designed to work with 1.7 RR's.

![]() Don't do it...ran my car without them, then ran it with them, then ran with out them again and I was right. No difference in timeslips. Take Green92LX's advice. Most aftermarket cams and heads are designed to run 1.6's anyway. Wait till you make that swap to get rollers. If money is burning a hole in your pocket then get something to help the suspension LCA's or subframes or whatever. Can never go worng with making the chassis stronger. I had near same setup as you but I must be a little lighter or something cause I ran 13.60's with stock motor.

![]() Thank you! I save the money... Another thing! How much can I mill my stock heads and how much is it worth in torque/hp. We have 95-98 octane petrol in sweden.
I want to go 13,5 with stock heads, Cam and intake........ ------------------ -87 GT, K&N, 5-speed, Walker exhaust, no air silencer. timing 75000miles. This vinter 3,55 and mac 15/8 and H-pipes 14,61 and 95,59mph |

![]() Easy to go that fast with stock heads, intake, and cam--you can mill heads .030 but I would not go any further than that because of the deck thickness of the head-you'll blow head gaskets left and right.
