i have a 64 1/2 mustang im puttin a 302 in, what would be the correct air cleaner color? ive heard red, any truth to that!?
Thanks
The truth is, if you're putting a 302 into a 64 1/2, then it really doesn't matter what color because it can't be correct anyway. Make it what pleases you. Ford blue always seems nice to me. Of course, you can make an original 289 into a 302 with just a crank and piston change with nobody the wiser.

Yeah true, but i was just trying to figure out what i should do, black block, flat black valve covers(some cheap ones painted that way) then the air cleaner....
OK, I looked it up in a book HOW TO RESTORE YOUR MUSTANG. It says:
1965 260 - black block and heads, medium blue valve covers, medium blue air cleaner
1965 289 - black block and heads, gold valve covers, gold air cleaner with black snout
Hope this helps.

hey thanks for the help, does it matter if its a May 64 car, i know ford did some crazy stuff on changing colors, parts in mid year....any changes? sorry im being so forthright
Ford considered them all '65's. So i think the correct colors are the same.
