![]() Major effort required here. You're trying to po put a 385 family engine into a car engineered for a FE family engine. Shock tower work and moving the front wheels out some probably with alot of other work as well.
My advice would be to use a 390 Edelbrock component engine that would fit and still give a bunch of power (400-450 HP). Could still use a C-6 with good result. I have never done this. Just repeating things I've heard. Rev ------------------ '66 Coupe, 306, 300 HP, C-4, 13.97 e.t., 100.3 mph 1/4 mi. |

![]() Hey Rev are you sure here? I am not trying to start anything ugly but my second hand info from a guy with a 68 was that it wasn't that tough to put in a 460. Certinally no shock tower stuff. But I could easily be wrong here. Just curious if you knew for sure and like I say, my info was second hand at best.

![]() I saw one a couple of years ago and there was no shock tower mods and if I remember correctly the FE series is a wider engine, besides that there are more modern parts bieng made for the 460s.I know of one cougar eliminator in my area with a 429 that I've seen but never had the chance to look at

![]() oh yeah, this is pretty cool too http://www.mpgheads.com/expbrac.htm
BTW, I think you can get a swap kit for that from mustangs unlimited too... frame mounts engine mounts.. and I think hooker makes headers for it too ------------------ 84 convt,'95 302,AFR's, performer 3.55's, underdrives BBK shorties stock cam, 1.7's 13.85@102.5 and a '68 stang that WAS nasty ;-) |

![]() I knew it could be done just wasn't sure where to start thanks for the info. this 460 I got from a 70 mark III that said 54k on the odo we figured that ment 154 but we pulled the covers today and it's brand new inside absolutely no sludge or crud anywhere the valve springs are still bright green so now we're thinking that 54 is right the downside is they broke the tranny housing when they lifted the car. I'd be bragging if I told you how much we paid for it

![]() Might be the Boss 429 that I'm thinking of that required the shock tower work. Those semi-hemi heads are probably wider by alot than the regular 429-460 heads. I still bet it will be a lot of work. Sorry for any mis-info.

![]() Yea, you are right about that rev, boss 429 took major massage work including moving the shock towers out. I am sure on that one.

![]() One question comes to mind. Are we talking about fitting this 460 under a stock '67 hood ? I think that makes alot of difference in this installation.

![]() Well I'm not looking to build a stock classic so a slight hole in the hood wouldn't be objectionable besides I have 2 hoods and a 66 289
