Flowmast exhaust kit

Has anyone tried the flowmaster exhaust system yet. looks like a good deal and a good system. Wife wanted to know what I wanted for christmas. Pg 44 of Dec. Car Craft, Summit $323.99 Any input would be nice on final decsion. for 64-66 mustangs

I don't have those pipes, but I do use 3 chamber Flowmaster mufflers and they are good. Very heavy construction, free flowing and sound great. My bet is that the pipe kit is good too.

323 for something you still need to piece together and weld. If you enjoy welding and know how to it would be ok. Try a performance exhaust shop in your area. I bet they can match or even beat the price with similar pieces and they will be installed. Plus the kit isn't guaranteed its going to fit. Not all headers are made the same and there are other obstructions. Some only with the proper tools can be avoided. Hope this helps.

p.s. you'll love the sound and torque.

Fostang has a point. Welded connections are definitely better than clamps. I got my 2 1/2" set up done by a little Mexican shop for $250 not including the mufflers. It was all aluminized pipe too. The bends are not as smooth as mandrel bent pipe, but it all works pretty well. Make sure you get some kind of cross over pipe between the two exhaust pipes somewhere after the headers and before the mufflers (the "H" pipe).

I got 2 chamber flows on my 69 and it cost my like 80 or 90 bucks to put a 2 1/2in pipe from the header to the turn downs. A full exhuast would cost around 200 he told me. Thats here in memphis and they did a great job.
