10 1/2 inch clutch problems!
I'm putting together a new engine/trans combo. I have a late model 302 with 10 1/2
inch motorsports clutch. I used the troughout bearing that came with the clutch kit. I'm running the stock z bar clutch linkage. With the adjustment all the way tight i only get about 2 inches of clutch movement. The clutch falls to floor, actually moving the clutch about the last 2 inches. Has anyone heard of this problem? Do i need a different troughout bearing or longer adjustment rod? Any thoughts? Regards, Billgear www.289mustang.com 1966 Mustang Coupe |
I did the swap you are talking about. (Well I paid someone to do it but don't tell anyone.) If I'm not mistaken they had to add a longer adjustment arm. It's probably about 7 inches long. It looks like a piece of all thread. If you use all-thread, stiffen it with something because it flexes quite a bit when you apply the clutch.(Mine did anyway and there probably is a better solution.

I was thinking about making the rod longer,
I was a little worried about getting into some weird geometry issue's. Thanks for the quick repley. Regards, Billgear www.289mustang.com |
I went to delta Bay Mustang, they had a longer rod on the shelf. I put in, it works
perfect. Now, just to get the motor running! Thanks for the help! Regards, Billgear www.289mustang.com |
