1964 1/2 Seatbelts
Has anyone heard of putting rear seatbelts in a 64 1/2 convertible. Can it be done. I need them so I can put a child car seat in. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 1964 1/2 Seatbelts
I've put many seat belts in cars through out the years.
What would be different in a 64 1/2 convert. than any other Mustang?? Pull the rear seat cushion out, check the clearance underneath and put some holes in the floor. |
Re: 1964 1/2 Seatbelts
From what I understand, its not that easy. The forces experienced in a car crash can easily rip the seatbelts from the floor. The belts need to be attached in a different manner such as to the frame with hardened steel. There are not any factory purchase points on a 64 1/2 as there is on any other mustang.

Re: 1964 1/2 Seatbelts
i had to put belts in a 63 falcon, i had to weld a nut to a 4 x 4 plate drill a hole and weld the plate to the outer floorboard ,i promise it will be way strong enough as a matter of fact it will be stronger than any newer car because your 64 has a heavier gauge steel in the floor board area...

Absolutely you need a backing plate welded on the floor such as okie mentioned.
