Default 1965 Conv. Top Down Not Fitting?

It is a 1965 convertible mustang which I have welded in new wheelhouse inner panels and wheelhouse outer panels. I have pounded down the lips on the panels but my top will not go all the way down . IDEAS? The top is new, I didn't own the car before so I do not know if the top ever went down. Is the panels different between the coupe and convertible? Could someone post a pix of what it is suppose to look like?

Thanks
Bob

Move the top back from the windshied header about half way. This should reveal slack in the top(between the header and the second hinge(each side). Pull(lightly) out on the top in the area of the first hinge. This will allow the top to lay flat when stored. Paul
