Default 1966 Fan Shroud Install

My 66 Mustang with a 289 was running hot this summer. I decided to replace the fan, 2-row radiator, and add a fan shroud. 3-row radiator and fan installed just fine.

My problem is getting the shroud mounted to the radiator. Unless I'm missing something, it 'should' just line up to the holes with the provided hw and bolt right up? I got the shroud mounting hw as well as the radiator mounting hw.

Thermostat is new, replaced this spring.

Any ideas/thoughts/suggestions?
thanks,
ty

Also, is this shroud going to help as much as everyone makes out? Most people tell me that it makes a 'huge' difference in cooling the motor.
