Default Is this a project I could handle?!? (Intake, heads, cam...)

Hello,

I installed my exhaust and my cold air intake (very simple)...I have no experience with installing any of the three mentioned in the subject.

I am just curious how involved of a project this would be. How long I would have to expect to spend working on it. And is a reasonable project for me to take on?!? I really want the gains I would get from these, but don't want to pay for installation

Also, are there any overview installation instructions on the web?

Thanks,
DoranW

I have done all of the above and it can be a headache if you have never tackled anything like it. You can do it however if your patient and use good instructions. I think you could probably buy a service manual for your car. It has a pretty detailed tear down and rebuild of and entire car. With a little common sense and by reading everything carefully you should have no problems. I am assuming that the motor is in the car. It will be a little harder doing it this way but it can be done. Be sure and read the instructions closely and follow the torque specs and you should be fine.

About how long would you guess would it take to tackle the whole project? Like 40 hours? More/less?

Thanks,

I would say that if you have all the parts ready before you start, you could do it in a few days after work or school. I'd say 20 hours of actual work shoud get it done. But as with any project, count on twice as much time and three times the mony to get it done.

I swapped my heads and intake about two weeks ago...It took me all day Saturday and half of Sunday to tear it down and get it back together.

I highly reccomend doing it yourself once you learn how to do it you never have to pay for labor again.

By far the hardest thing to me was swapping my gears from 2.73's to 3.73's.........It was a pain in the @ss to get just the right backlash.

Good luck,
Later
