![]() What is the differences between a 1967 and a 1968 Mustang coupe? I'm talking about anything from differences in instrument panel layout to exterior body appearance. I am also curious as to differences in available options too. Thanks for the help.

![]() Here is a beginning:
'67 has FORD on hood '67 has dual vents, scoops on quarter panels '67 has a round padded horn button that sticks up from wheel. '67 tape stripe above rocker panels for GT & GTA '67 first in dash factory A/C '67 first big block offered [390] '67 first tilt wheel offered '68 first 428cj '68 first cruise control offered '68 first steering column that collapsed on inpact '68 first dual brake master cylinder '68 first shoulder belts '68 fold down door handles '68 has trim on quarter instead of vents '68 first 302 '68 only GT not GTA [for automatic] that was on '67 '68 no tape on rockers only chrome GT emblem '68 Side marker reflectors on quarter panels '68 side marker lights on front fenders '68 Grille [GT] doesn't have horizonal bars. The GT lights just sort of float there I'm sure there are more. I will be watching for them, and adding some too. ------------------ Dave Pitt 68 FB, 289 Dual AFB's [This message has been edited by Gearhead999 (edited 06-10-2001).] [This message has been edited by Gearhead999 (edited 06-10-2001).] |

![]() ouch....have to disagree with Gearhead999 on that point about the 68 having the first in-dash a/c, it was available in 67 as well.
Another point is in the deluxe interior area. The 67 is the only year Mustang with the Brushed aluminum dash and door panels. I believe the 68's also used a different seat than the 67's, more cushy than the 65-67 style seats. I believe the factory styled steel wheels were also last offered on the 67 models, but I am not sure on that. Someone will show up soon knowing a lot more than I do....but I used to love my old 67 coupe (289 4v, auto, in-dash air, ps, power disc brakes, deluxe interior, exterior decor package, upper and lower consoles)--until I was hit head on one morning that is. ------------------ 66 GT Fastback, fuel injected 5.0, 5-speed, cable clutch, JBA's and duals, 3.40 gears and handling mods...just call me "Doc" |

![]() 67 has individual block MUSTANG lettering on the front fenders while 68 has a one-piece cursive MUSTANG lettering.
Also I think 289 was 65-67 only and became 302 in 68. ------------------ 67 Fastback - Arctic White Pearl paint 351W ,Trick Flow Aluminum Heads, Edelbrock TorkerII, Carter 750 CFM, Comp. ![]() In 1968 there were a few Mustangs that were equiped with the 289, but those were early into the production year of 68.
