found something interesting today at the parts house (advanced Auto Parts). found you can get a ford 289 new with a 36 month full warrenty for $1400 total, also found a new c4 for $466 total, i think this is a good a deal what do you guys think?

Just make sure that it truly is a 289 and not a "perfectly sound alternative"... aka 302.
Otherwise though, I picked up a Western Auto (now Advanced Auto) rebuild years ago and had no problems with it. I do think that they use "cookie cutter" machining, though for the sake of efficiency. That's fine for a daily driver, but if you plan on putting in a couple 6 or 7k revs, .030 undersized mains (if memory serves) might not be desirable... |
