Default 289 heads

are the heads from a 289 2bbl the same as 4bbl heads?
putting a 4bbl intake and carb on a 289 that was a 2bbl, will it perform the same as an original 4bbl?

I did a little research and the only thing I found was that the heads between a "standard" and hi-po 289 were different. So between the regular 2 and 4bbl I would assume no. Will it perform the same? No, compression ratio was lower on the 2bbl's stock, so assuming the heads are the same it has to be different pistons for a lower C/R. Also, taking into account that your engine is now 40+ yrs old, its got some wear in it, unless your going through the entire engine. Your definitely on the right track with the upgrades, im sure you'll enjoy it! What intake are you swapping too?

As far as I know the Hi-Po is the only 289 head variation with its solid lifters. 2v and 4v heads should be the same.
