300 hp 289 combo?
 

Does anyone out there have a proven combination for the 289 engine that makes 300 horsepower? I want to use stock heads, so basically I'll be swapping the manifold & cam & adding headers. I'll want to port the heads later, but money matters. I have a good bottom end to build on. (Stock c-code with 9.3:1 static compression I think) I just don't want to build a car that every kid in a Civic can outrun.

Shelby's were rated at 305 HP. Good cam, I prefer the hyd. roller retro-fit. High rise dual plane intake, 600 cfm 4 barrel, headers and of course porting. Unless you can get some hipo heads. Good ignition to Crane or MSD.

I have 289, bored .060. Ported heads, Hooker Headers, roller retro-fit cam, roller rockers, Crane ignition, Mallory dist. and dual AFB's. Windage tray helps and is cheap too. I stay ahead of Civics. Oh yeah and I have an AOD too. No bottle.
