302 Engine re-build

1973 Mustang needs a motor re-built. We have seveal blocks to use. Question.??

We would like to use the unleaded heads off a 1982 302 , on the 1973 cylinder block.??

Any problems or point to watch out for. ??

I know the cranks are different. We will stay with the 1973 crank and block.

Questions for you. Since 72 was first year for unleaded, why the 84 heads? Not sure but don't think there is a problem here. Second, the cranks are different? Please elaborate. I thought it was ballancers and flywheels. I know 84 blocks won't have the bell crank stud for manual clutch, but since you are using the 73 block I don't see a problem here. Anyone else.

Agree with Thunderbolt. Stick with the 73 block if you can. But, get some better heads then those '82 smog heads. Why '82?? The price right?? Like FREE.

Be careful of the crank balance between '73 and '82. 28oz vs 50oz.

Thanks,

Wow! The 18mm spark plug heads are unleaded?? I will re-work the 1973 heads.

This Mustang is the low budget special.

We will build a 351 C when the money is saved. This project is a 16 year olds and I only watch and stick my nose in when asked.

Dad's still want to be friends when the projects are completed.
