Default 302 vs. 289

I recently pulled my 289 out of my '65 to get a lot done to it but I just found a pretty good deal from a friend of mine on a 302 ('67 I think) and was wnodering what the actual differences are. I mean if it's a six bolt to the housing like mine, then will the 289 heads, exhaust manifolds, intake, timing chain cover, water pump, oil pan,... and all of that stuff still bolt right back on? I have been told that they are the same block, just bored different. Is this true?
