351W heads on 289?
hey guys,
I read in a article that you can put 351W heads on a 289. I am very interested in doing this since i found a few heads online for just about $20 saying there were no cracks, for $20 i can take a risk. At that price that is something i can do very easily, the rebuild cost shouldnt be more that $200-300 right? Unless i port them out all the way, but i might wait till i get an intake. What i wanted to ask you guys though is what would i need to get besides the heads to make this work. Like am i going to need a 351 intake too? And i need to make sure that they are Windsor heads correct? The article didnt say that you could use 351C heads. Also, besides that, would i need to do any special machining to the block or anything else. Anything other than stock can you guys list so that i can make sure im not getting my self into something too deep. One last question, How would some edelbrock heads for a 289 compare to some 351W heads on a 289 fully ported? Im sure you guys can tell I am on a budget, heh heh being 18 and all. ---Anthony ------------------ Under Construction 66 Coupe -289 V8 - 600cfm Holley -Tri-Y Headers - Flowmaster 2.5 dual exaust, Centerforce Dual Friction |
