![]() I had just gotten my hands on a 429 Thunder Jet and C6 tranny out of a 1971 T-bird recently, and I really want to drop it into my '73 Mustang. Does the motor mount up differently as apposed to a Cobra Jet from '71? Would I have any trouble mounting the C6 up where the old C4 used to be? What sort of mounting hardware would I need to get it all nestled in? You all can probably tell I'm new at this, and any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks! |

![]() I start out saying im pretty bad when it comes to ford big blocks. I did a little research and in 71' the mustangs cobra jet motor was the 429, so the same block as the one you have out of the t-bird. So as far as the motor is concerned I believe it should just be a simple replacement.
I really cant tell you much about the transmissions. If your mustang was originally a BB car I dont believe it should of had a c4 in it. I believe it should of came with an FMX transmission.

![]() I got it with a 302 and C4, and even then, I'm not totally sure if any of it's really the original equipment. is there a difference in dimensions between the C6 and C4?
Thanks |

![]() What kind of modifications would I need to bolt up a C6 to my mustang? Sorry, I'm really inexperienced at this.
