Angry Rusted lugs and washers

I just put new draglites on my car with the weld shank style lug nuts and washers. The problem is the lugs are tightening down onto the washer, causing the washer to stop spinning. The result is chipped chrome plating on the washer and lug nut. I am not getting them very tight at all. Is there a better type to use? Do they make a one piece washer/lug nut? I think even with stainless washers, I will have the same problem with the lug nuts rusting. HELP! My new wheels don't look good with rusty nuts!

LMAO, dude you took the post out of my mouth, i just bought some welds too, and after the first car wash, the washers started rusting, and i chipped the chrome tightening down the lugs, you would think at 2$ a lug, they would stay nice, i seen another mustang with the same problem

Default Not the first time...

I have had several sets of Welds (not that the wheels are the problem), but I can't seem to find a combo that doesn't do this. I seem to take the wheels on and off often and this makes the problem worse. I really don't want to keep buying new sets.

Hey 89Stang, I bought a set of weld draglites for my stang awhile ago, i love those rims!!! But my wahsers rusted too and looked ugly as hell, So I ordered some stainless washers from Summit racing. After about two years they still look perfect!! If your interested pick'em up from them.

Default Thanks

Yea, I think I will try the stainless washers. I wonder if stainless washers from Home Depot would work if I can find the same size? That way I won't have to wait for them and I think they are a little cheaper. I can't believe no one makes a one piece lug nut with the washer.
