![]() I don't think there is any "stripper" that you can use on Plastic. I might be wrong, but I really don't think so.
They make a stripper for "fiberglass" though. If I had to paint a plastic console, I would clean it very good, wipe it off with alc. and then spray paint it

![]() ive shot plastic and interior panels before, but this needs resto. chips in the old paint along with a repair. i can dab paint to fill the chips but kinda wanted to bring out the relief a little more.
for instance: my door i just cleaned and shot and it looked ok. the panel in the back i stripped, lightly primed, and used single stage one coat and it came out bitchin. needless to say ive got more paintn to do. i would love to have that result the first time out with the console. |

![]() I say do the repairs and finish the rough repairs with a little wet sanding. The design isn't flawless to begin with so over smothing and sanding will only make it look like a nasty repo or overly processed by a heavy handed painter with too much Krylon at his/ her side. I would also put down a slightly 'rough' matt finish then recoat her with a low gloss or even a flat.
Worked wonders on mine. |

![]() screwed the pooch fellers. was goin good till i found out what was under the parchment. i guess i can sandblast it or something. mabey i shouldnt be so (*^*^% tight and buy one from npd.
long story short: bumper stripper and 60s plastic dont mix. should have listened to gearhead and induction Last edited by ralph s; 01-15-2006 at 11:23 PM.. Reason: forgot |

![]() acetone will remove the paint most of the time without damaging the plastic. test a small area.
