Default 67 Mod

Ok, can anyone tell me what is the best suited transmission I can get for my car? I have a 67 coupe that I have been modifying for a couple of years now. It started out as a stock 289 2bbl, with a 3 spd manual tranny. Since then I have put a 4bbl 600 edelbrock carb, with an edelbrock airgap intake, as well as dual exhaust with flowmasters on it, as well as an MSD ignition system. I am told that my transmission is going to die in a few months and I need a new one, which is fine because it sucks anyway. I am mainly interested in street racing, but it also need to be my daily driver. After the new transmission I have a new beefier edelbrock cam waiting to go in, so I would also like to know what else I should put on the list to do to it. I was thinking that a new rear axle would be in order, but I'm not sure what kind, or where to go. I can use all the suggestions I can get about what to buy and where to get it so any information from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
