Default 68 armrest removal

I am trying to remove the armrests in my 68 coupe. Does anyone know what fasteners are used to hold them on the door? They look like hex bolts, but I can't seem to find a socket that fits.

They are hex bolts. You'll need an extension, but don't remember the size socket - believe it's around 1/2" though.

I thought it looked like a 3/8" socket. That is the biggest socket I can get in there, but it doesn't fit the bolt. I don't think I can get a bigger socket in there cause the 3/8" gets stuck in the foam, and I have to pull it out with needle nose pliers.

I believe it was a 3/8" hex bolt on both of my '69s, also. I had to use a 1/4"-drive ratchet though so the socket was smaller...compared to a 3/8"-drive version.

Yea, I am using a 1/4" drive, but still can't seem to get it. I guess I will just have to try harder.

Thinking back on it I believe you're correct on the 3/8" size, but I do remember finding my socket screw driver was the easiest, but it still was a tight fit and I had to move it around and struggle slightly getting the socket out of the opening when I put them back on.
