68 some lights
I have a 68 that when I turn the headlights on the back come on really dim. When i put the turn signal on they are really slow. My headlights work fine nice and bright. I have tried the flasher with no luck. I have tried a new hi/low switch no go. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: 68 some lights
The reason they are dim is due to to much resistance. Bad grounds, headlight switch, wrong bulbs, corroded sockets and contacts, wiring thats corroded inside is a few of the things I would start looking at. Hope it helps.

Sixtystyle is right on this. The only thing I would add is a possible short circuit some where on the way to the tail lights. Rusty sockets would be my first inspection though.

Re: 68 some lights
My car does this too. Everything is nice and bright as long as the engin RPM's are high, but when I come to a stop the dash lights dim and turn signal slows down. I think it is kinda cool, just a unique feature of an old car. I always though swithing to a solid state voltage regulator solve this. Might be worth trying one of those one wire alternator conversions.

Re: 68 some lights
Check your voltage at the battery with the lights off and then on. You probably don't have enough power, at idle, to keep them lite bright.
