Gas Tank leaking
I filled up yesterday and noticed my tank is leaking around the filler neck. I bought a new seal for it assuming that it is the problem.
I think I already know the answer to this, but do I have to drop the tank to get the new seal on the filler neck? It looks like something has leaked closer to the top of the tank. I hope this is not a leak on top and is just some junk that has somehow worked its way up there. Are these tanks known to eventually leak from the top? |
Pull the inside panel in the trunk and check it out. When my car was new, the overflow wouldn't drain. I pulled the panel and found the overflow hose was kinked when the car was built. I think the filler tube is accessable there. It's been a long time, so I'm not positive.

Thanks for the tip. I have already dropped the tank and changed the seal though. Hopefully that takes care of my problem.
(I guess I knew the tank would have to come out before I posted, but I was just hoping it wouldn't :D) It just took about an hour, so it was not too bad. |
