Post 69' Mac 1, whats it worth?

Hey guys, I have a chance to pick up a 69' Mach for $2000. It has a 429, 4-speed top loader. It is complete but does not run, believe the rear-end may be toast. A friend who knows his stuff was telling me about it and said it was in decent shape. Im assuming fair. Would this be worth my time to get this thing up and running and then sell?

Kevin, did the '69 429 come in anything other than a Boss? If it's a Boss 429, I'd say grab it. They are extremely valuable. I don't think there were any 429's other than Boss in 1969.

Not that I know of Rev, that's why the car appeals to me. If nothing else I think it deserves some number gathering and a close inspection. Does anyone know whatI should be looking for? Havent seen to many big block Fords to be able to distinguish a difference.

Hey Kevin,

Ever see a Hemi. That is what the Boss heads look like. The spark plug goes right throught the valve cover. Take a look at this site. It has info. on all the old Ford engines.

Kevin, did you ever find out what it actually is? A 428 CJ would be sweet too. Now, i'm really salivating.

No, not yet. I had to leave town this weekend so couldnt investigate the car. I plan on doing that this week. Plan on really looking things over and getting all the numbers. I hope it turns into something

I always think the same way you do, this stuff always happens to others. It will be nice if it happens to be something worthwhile! I always keep my eyes and ears open for EVERYTHING! You never know what you might stumble onto. I will let you all know what I find out.

for 2 grand and its decent! i would bet nothing is original and the only 429 was a boss and nobody would sell for nothing 428cj same story. but still see if its a thunderjet 429 370 hp with almost 500lbs torque, would still be worth more than 2k... and with a big block toploader very fun, im looking for a 69 big block 428 cj 4 speed, ive got the cj specific auto. anybody got one?
