Yes it should work. I would think you would have to modify your cross member or buy a new one. Probably have your drive shaft cut.
That is the only thing I really had to do in my 69. But I also put a new motor in at the same time so the input shaft, flywheel, and bell housing all matched up. You may have issues with those things in a 76. I would say it would work though. Check out
