79 5.0 "buildup"

i recently overhaul my 302..& added a hvy hydraulic cam..wat i wanted was a mild cam, enuff ta work a 2bbl to death.. wat i got.. is ball bustin 4bbl cam...now i need heads & intake to even begin to put the newfound power to the ground....watcha think?... im figurin on a 351w head 2.0./1.88 & stock intake..im gonna "hog out" the exhaust manifold.. not bein 1 who likes shorty headers..."strip tune" says it should run 12:90 qtr miles, but, id think 14:00's are a lil more attainable, being the stock converter is retained..im lookin to lay down til bout 330 ft mark, then make serious hp by the 1000 ft mark..

who thinks i may be close?.....any1??

Depending on how wild your cam is your stock
tourque converter may be a problem. You may
experience some serious bog...When you start
adding large valves/heads to a allready big
cam the power band gets moved up the Rpm range. If your interest is strickly drag racing then this would be OK, with a higher
RPM tourque converter. For street driving with an occational 1/4 run you will be
better of with some mild heads like some
windsor Jr's or GT40P heads. The GT40p's
would be a great choice, since your are
buying headers anyway. The P heads are also
fairly cheap.
