8.8 rearend into 65?
I've got an 65 289 mustang with an 8 inch rear end with street gears. I do too much highway driving and need to change the gears. I have a buddy that has a 85 mustang with an 8.8 2.73 gear set up. Will this rear end bolt up into my car.
I appreciate the help. Thanks |

not without alot of work, coil spring to leaf spring, driveshaft length..diff u-joint... and his will be a 4-bolt lug pattern,,,
just get a 8in 3rd member..cheap in a junk yard...takes less than 30 mins to swap it in..piece of cake ------------------ 84 convt,'95 302, performer 3.55's, underdrives shorties and a '68 stang that WAS nasty ;-) |

Most 8" rear ends came with freeways gears, 2.80 being the most common. You shouldn't have any problems finding one.
And the installation is a lot easier than putting a 8.8" housing in :-) ------------------ http://www.comports.com/2bav8 |

They are right, just swap the 3rd members. It is a piece of cake. I have one with a 300:1 ratio, if you are interested...
