More "musings" - friend of mine used to have one in a pinto and it would whip any 283 out there! All you need is headers, a little bigger cam, clean up the ports, and a little bigger carb (i.e. 450 4bbl or big 2bbl) on a manifold. Gears (i.e. 4.11's if you have a 5 speed od) also help the rpm's build more quickly. A heavy flywheel helps you off the line and between shifts, but an alum. flywheel lets the engine rev lots quicker. The basic engine is real stout and has lots of potential. Enjoy!
