Default Bad Vibrations

Hi All,

I have a 66 Mustang, 289 V8. When I press on the gas pedal even a little bit at speeds over 50 mph I hear a rather strong vibration run through the body of my car repeatedly. If I release the gas pedal at that speed it goes away. As long as I am not going over 50 mph I cannot hear the vibration even when fully accelerating on the gas. So it seems to be dependent on my speed and also application of the gas pedal.

Does this sound like a driveshaft issue or a tire balancing issue or something else? And if so, what might be needed to correct this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Check the easy stuff first...

First... I've seen this a number of times, and I don't mean to insult your intelligence... check the torque of your lugnuts. Especially on mags, they can work loose.

Out of balance tires that I've experienced have shown up in the 45 to 60 mph range... and they will shake. That is a very good possibility.

Another possibility may be worn suspension parts... refer to your manual to check your tie rod ends and ball joints for wear.

While you're at it... check to make sure you're shocks are in good shape...
