I can't offer you much advice since I'm not a mechanic. However, I had same identical problem and tried everything for almost a year to include replacing virtually everything, i.e., alternator, battery, regulator, etc. I finally gave up and purchased a new wiring harness ($160 ouch) and it fixed everything. Expensive way to go but I couldn't isolate the short anywhere.

Patrick,
Kisner could be on to something because your voltage at the battery should be at least 13 volts. Even though all the parts have been replaced the charge is not getting there. Grab a voltmeter and start tracking down where the voltage is. The wiring harness sounds like a good place to look. ------------------ 69 351W Sportsroof deluxe |

I would double check the alternator, even though its new, it can still be defective. You need between 12.8 and 14.8 volts output to maintain a proper level of charge in the battery. I installed a brand new (not rebuilt) alternator in my 65 this past spring which had a problem putting out more than 12.2 volts and this unit ended up being defective - replaced it with another one which put out 14.0 volts and solved the problem.
