Best Transmission??
I want to upgrade my 3 speed tranny to something better, preferable a 5 speed. But I want soemthing that will be able to handle the engine I plan to drop in my car (a 460 stroked to a 520), something that can handle 800+ horsepower. Can anyone give me some suggestions on what wouls be a good transmission to buy? I would really appreciate your replys.

Actually my favorite trans is a Powerglide, hard to beat. We've run 826 lbs of tourqe through a slightly modded one. 5grand stall 7 inch converter.
A 5 speed won't handle 800 + unless your talking lenco. $$$$ & $$ We called Doug Nash to see if one of those would work. You would have to weld two together.

So if a 5 spd won't do the job, were talking a 6 spd. I need something that is somewhat afordable, but that is still good enough to handle street/ strip abuse (plus my lead foot!!).
