Actually my favorite trans is a Powerglide, hard to beat. We've run 826 lbs of tourqe through a slightly modded one. 5grand stall 7 inch converter.
A 5 speed won't handle 800 + unless your talking lenco. $$$$ & $$
We called Doug Nash to see if one of those would work. You would have to weld two together.
