Do you perhaps mean a line loc instead of a line brake?
A line loc is simply a solenoid that when activated by a switch will keep the brake line pressure on the front brakes (or the rear if you have a front wheel drive import!)...effectively locking them until you let off the switch. Great for doing burnouts! A transbrake is a device built into the valve body of an automatic transmission that when activated will lock the transmission in reverse and a forward gear (which forward gear depends on the tranny and the transbrake design) at the same time. When this happens the car cannot move. The effect of which being that you can rev the engine much like you do a stick car when it is in neutral. However, the engine will only rev as far as the torque convertor will let it...the torque convertor is designed to slip a little to let the engine get into its powerband more quickly...the higher the RPm that the engine makes power at the more slippage you want because in general engines that make a lot of high RPM power are dogs at low RPMs. So if you have a 4000 stall convertor in the car when the transbrake is engaged you can give it some throttle and it will rev to 4000 RPM. The whole point of this is when you let off the switch for the transbrake the car is going to launch very hard just like a stick car...usually harder than a stick shift car actually because the convertor helps to multiply the torque a little bit... Dang my fingers are tired after that! ------------------ 91 coupe, SVO block 380 windsor, Brodix Neal heads, Super victor spyder intake, 90mm Accufab, 160 lb.
