Default C4 problems

I'm having problems with my transmission. I own a 1968 Mustang with a C-4 transmission. The engine when it is cold will go into reverse with some hesitation, but not drive .When the engine is hot (or warm)it will go into drive fine, but not reverse. The car does not leak at all from anywhere and i recently changed the fluids and filters in the transmission. Occasionally on random days the car will have decent power, but mostly it lacks it. Does anyone have a guess as to what specifically it could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Really sounds like it is low on fluid... check the fluid level, and the color of the fluid and make sure it doesn't have a burnt smell.

While you're at it, make sure the vacuum line is hooked up in the back of the tranny...

I have checked the fluid and the level is fine. Color looks alright to me and not sure about the smell.

The vacuum line is hooked up on both ends, but the modulator valve looks a little beat up so i'm changing that out today. see what happens

If the replacment of that valvue does not work, it is a bad Tranny.

*Wild A** Guess* Maybe some debris/gunk in the valve body? I would at least replace the fluid and filter and see if that helps
