C4 to T5 swap

I am interested in swapping my C4 tranny for a T5 ('66 'Stang w/289) Has anyone out there done this swap? I've read about what is involved in swapping the Toploader for a T5. I just need to know what parts are needed to get to a manual setup.

You do realize the the T-5 is no the strongest tranny out there.. Actually if your making any horses at all it's very easy to break..

I'm at present having a problem with the new 89 flywheel as it is not balanced to the 68 302 I'm trying to swap to.You might run into the same problem since you will need to bolt on a flywheel, presure plate to your engine.

You'll need the clutch petal assembly that goes under the dash, throw out arm, equalizer bar, a bracket that mounts on the frame for the equalizer bar, a ball the goes on the block for the equalizer bar, and a couple of rods that connect to the equalizer bar and a few return springs.

Ok, that sounds like a lot... here's the easy way (What I did). Find a manual car that's being parted out and get everything off of it. If you do happen to forget something, just about everything is being reproduced. I also recommend you get a mustang restoration book with diagrams so you know what you're looking for. I recommend the "Mustang Restoration Handbook" by Don Taylor. Its available through Amazon.com and its helped me alot.

You are going to need a bell housing off a late model 5.0 mustang as well. You can purchase NEW flywheels that are balanced for your engine and allow you to use new clutch component (that's what I have). You should be able to get them through pretty much any mustang dealer as well as the parts for the swap...
