Question How to Mount Radio

Any tips on how my radio mounts in my 68 coupe? I have the original radio bezel but it seems there should be some type of brace in the back under the dash to support it. I have nothing there, but it doesn't seem right that it would only be supported in the bezel by the knobs?

Cool

thats all that held mine in... the nuts that go on the shafts on the radio... you could probably make a rear bracket though...

Thanks. I wasn't sure. If the shafts are sturdy enough to support it and that's the way it came, I won't worry about it. I inherited the car about a year and a half ago and am still trying to figure out what parts are missing. I'm close to being an expert on the body parts now. No engine knowledge though.

Don't know why I never looked in my shop manual. Was looking up another item in the dash area and found a diagram of the radio mounting. There is a small bar brace that mounts under the dash and screws on to the back of the radio. Doubt I can buy one or find one, but doesn't look too difficult to make one though. Every time I read those dad gom books I find something else I'm missing.
