Can You Identify This Part?

Working on a '65, 200ci stock motor.

The part in question is a condenser looking (cylindrical) device that attaches with one wire to the yellow wire that comes off of the voltage regulator. The part has a bracket attached that allows it to be bolted to the radiator core support.

I'm pretty sure it is just that, a condensor. Not sure what happens without it, as I just left my old one in place as I still use the old style external voltage regulator.

It is a capicator to reduce electrical noise in the radio.

The reason I ask is because according to the schematic that I got from John's Mustang, it shows a "Radio Suppression Condenser" that attaches to the alternator. Then they show our little jewel in question attached to the VR, but don't specify what it is.

I'm wondering why two radio suppression condensors would be necessary.

If you car has one of these on it, I'd sure be curious what happens when you disconnect it and try to start the car.

There was one in the distributor as well. Pretty sure that they are condensors.

if your radio has decent reception, then yep it works. Mine died on my 69 once and that's how I learned what the hell it was.

Just get electronic ignition with good coiled type spark plug wires and you can forget the whole thing (I think).
