![]() I recommend either a Holley 4150 with vacuum secondaries 600 cfm or a Road Demon. I've had both. The Holley had a better electric choke than the Demon. Both produced about all that could be expected from my street friendly engine.
I've not had an Edelbrock which I believe is similar to a Carter AFB. Not sure, but I've heard they're not in the same class performance-wise. Rev

![]() I wounldn't use a four bbl with vacuum secondaries because the other two bbls will not kick in till higher RPM. They work on vacuum, so that when there is less vacuum, say when u have it wide open at higher RPM, they will open all the way. Mecanical secondaries work when u want them too. The farther u push the pedal, the more they open up. U can smash the pedal at idile, and all will open up right then, not later.
I'm going to put in a new 670CFM Holley in my 289. that might be too much gas for a stock engine. I'm also putting in elec pionts with a 45,000 volt coil and 9mm wires. That should handle all that gas just fine.

![]() a 600 holley is probably the best choice... for out of the box all around performance.. and the secondaries do open when you floor it... not just high RPM... you can also get a quick change kit for the secondary spring to have them open when you want...
I have the 80457s, and it works great... ;-)

![]() You don't really want the secondaries to open all at once unless you want a huge bog at lower RPM. That's what the vacuum secondaries do, they wait till the engine can handle the extra flow and then they do it proportionally. A spring kit will let you tune that secondary opening earlier or later and faster or slower as needed. That's a great thing about Holley, they're ultimately tunable.

![]() I second the holley 600 vac secondaries. That's what I have and it's been really good to me. For the money I don't think you can get a better deal.
