I've used 351W heads, professionally pocket ported and gasket matched that made 9.5/1 CR with flat top pistons (.012" down in the hole). They worked great for me on my 306.

I've now got TFTW heads, pocket ported and gasket matched, and yes there is an improvement as there should be for $1700 all said and done with TF 1.7 rockers, etc., etc. I vacillated for several years over which heads to buy. I narrowed it down to either TFTW or AFR heads. Edelbrocks are good, but the other two beat them out by a fair margin.

If you might be interested in those 351W heads (25,000 miles since the engine was built) and including the Comp Cams roller tip rockers (rail type) and the correct push rods included, PM me.
BTW, 351C heads won't fit the Windsor small block without major modifications.
