Default Classic Mustang Decoding

Hi Guys, New to this forum and will soon buy my first classic Mustang. I seem to have lost info on Mustang decoding. This site would give manufacturing details and specs of car when you enter the chassis number and or body tag no. Anyone know where I can get this? Also somewhere on the car is a identification tag, where is this located?

The ID tag is on the inside of the drivers door you have to open up the door and look just under the lock. It is a big square metal tag. It will tell you everything the car was originaly.
www.classicponycars.com has a spot on the site to tell you what the codes mean.

Thanks 69fastback. I did manage to buy a Mustang, a 69 Fastback Mach I. The car is really nice and the previous owner spent a lot of time and money on it. Will try to post a picture or two. The ID tag is not in the door as you explained, but must have been removed. I noticed the two holes where the plate was fastened to. There is a number on the inside of the windscreen. Will this tell the same info?
Could you also tell me where can I get info on what decals and badges were fitted to the 69 MachI as these were all removed at the time of repainting the car.
At last, I am also a proud owner of a Mustang.
I am also looking for the drivers door window mould/seal that fits between the two windows.
Hey, I cant upload pics. Am I doing something wrong!! Probably, will check it out later!
Cheers

The window seal could most likely be picked up thru www.paddockparts.com or www.npdlink.com just to name a few.
