Coolant Leak
Help! My anti-freeze is running down the driveway and I can't figure out what the problem is. I have a '67 with a 289. The anti-freeze is dripping from the front corner of the oil pan - driver's side. It is difficult to see but right between the fuel pump and the oil filter there is what I think is a drain plug. Behind the plug there is a housing of some kind and I think the coolant is oozing from that area. I initially thought that it could be the frost plug but if the frost plug is a silver thing about the size of a 50 cent piece, it is a bit farther back and seems to be OK. Any ideas?

Is it the seal between the timing chain cover and the water pump?

Elvis, Red is leading you the right way, the timing chain cover has coolant run through it. Just might need a new gasket but if I went that far consider new pump and possible timing chain.

Thank you to Red And Clark. The timing chain cover was quite pitted in some areas causing the leak. I replaced the cover and gasket and we are back in business. Also put in a new water pump. The timing chain was still in good shape. Elvis
